Vanessa Anne Hudgens was born on December 14th, 1988 in Salinas, California. Her parents are Gina (née Guangco), a Chinese-Filipino-Spanish descent, who had various office jobs and Greg, an Irish and Native American descent firefighter. She also has a sister, Stella, born in 1996. Since she was eight, she sang in local musicals, such as “Carousel”, “The Wizard of Oz”, “Cinderella” and more. She was home-schooled when, by the age of fifteen, she finally started her acting career.
Even if she had small roles in movies like “Thirteen” and “Thunderbird”, Vanessa’s breakout role was in “High School Musical”, in 2005, where she met Zac. They were paired up for the auditions and were picked for their great chemistry. She also stated that they started dating while filming. On September 2006, she released her first album, V, which had two singles, “Come Back to Me” and “Say Ok”. Her second single’s music video, which featured Zac, was said to officially admit their relationship. In fall 2006, with High School Musical’s cast, she went through the United States with the High School Musical: The Concert tour. In 2007 and 2008, she retook the role of Gabriella Montez for High School Musical’s sequels.
